Faubourg (Neighborhood) Treme: Boundaries: Esplanade Avenue to the east, North Rampart Street to the south, St. Louis Street to the west and North Broad Street to the north.
Treme is one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city and historically was home to free people of color. It is important for its Creole culture, brass band tradition and home of the Mardi Gras Indians. Architecturally the neighborhood is comprised of early 19th century cottages and townhouses.
